Description

Supreme Court Associate Justice William O. Douglas traveled to Texas in 1964 and 1965, touring the Santa Elena canyon and Guadalupe Mountains, and collecting plant specimens in Blanco, Brewster, Gillespie, Llano, and Presidio counties. In 1967, he published the book, Farewell to Texas: A Vanishing Wilderness, advocating for public protection and access to Texas lands.
