Description

Established in 1955 in Bee, Goliad, and Karnes counties, the Tri-County Game Preserve Association was the first known modern wildlife management area in Texas. Operating with advice from wildlife biologists, the Association carried out several habitat improvement practices, including deferred grazing, construction of brush shelters, planting of cover and food plots, monitoring of game, and maintaining controls and records on wildlife harvests.
