Topics
Description
Julien Reverchon, an early Texas farmer and dairyman, spent years studying and collecting plants, and for a decade served as botany professor at the Baylor University College of Medicine and Pharmacy in Dallas. His collecting expeditions reached West Texas in 1879, and toured Southwest Texas in 1885. By the time of his death, he had amassed a collection of more than 2600 species and 20,000 specimens of Texas plants, now held at the Missouri Botanical Garden. Reverchon Park in Dallas is named in his honor.
Location Notes
An historic marker at Reverchon Park makes sense. The Park is named in Mr. Reverchon's honor, but there is as yet no state marker. The Park is located at 3505 Maple Avenue; Dallas, Texas 75219.
