Description
Perry Bass, a Texas oilman and philanthropist, was active in a number of conservation efforts in the state. Serving on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, he helped lead initiatives to designate redfish and spotted sea trout as game fish, to build the Perry Bass Marine Fisheries Research Center, to create the state’s waterfowl stamp program, to establish Operation Game Thief, and to set up the Local Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Fund. Privately, he and his family have worked through the Perry R. Bass II Foundation to support other conservation efforts and groups, including the Texas Agricultural Land Trust.
