He is particularly remembered for his contributions to integrated pest management, which allowed major reductions in pesticide use, while still providing for protection of crops, including cotton, alfalfa, apples, and soybeans. He was recognized for his accomplishments with membership in the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and by service as the president of the Entomological Society of America.

Location Notes

With much of Dr.. Adkisson's life associated with Texas A&M, and his burial in College Station, perhaps it would be best to put a marker at his burial site, College Station Cemetery; 2530 Texas Avenue South; College Station, Texas
