Description

The artist, suffragist and civic leader, Rena Green, made major contributions to preserving historic landmarks and natural spaces in the San Antonio area. A co-founder of the San Antonio Conservation Society, Green had a key role in saving numerous old structures, including the Spanish Governor’s Palace, the San Antonio River Walk, the Market House, and buildings within the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park. She was also active in protecting green spaces in the city, including San Pedro Springs Park, Mahncke Park and Travis Park.

Location Notes

A marker at Travis Park would have special resonance, since Green's grandfather, Samuel Augustus Maverick, had originally given the park to the city.
