Lynn Lowrey was a pioneer botanist and horticulturalist, often considered the founder of the native plant movement in Texas. Mr. Lowrey traveled and collected widely in Texas and Mexico, created hybrids, promoted native, drought-tolerant plants, and gently mentored a generation of landscape architects, nurserymen, landscapers and conservationists across the state. His memory is recognized by the naming of the Lynn Lowrey Arboretum on the Rice University campus.
