Description

During travels to prepare his landmark lithographs in The Birds of America and The Viviparous Quadrapeds of North America, John James Audubon visited the Republic of Texas. There, he collected bird and animal specimens for his work. Also during that tour, he arrived from Galveston on May 15, 1837 at Allen’s Landing in Houston, where he met President Sam Houston.
