Description

While serving as game wardens for the Texas Game, Fish and Oyster Commission, Captain Joe Williams and Engineer Harry Raymond died September 14, 1919, when their patrol boat, Reliance, met a category 4 hurricane that hit Corpus Christi with winds above 110 mph, and a storm surge of 16 feet. They were among the first Texas wardens to die in the line of service.
