Knox Jones was a mammalogist, professor, and university administrator, serving for many years at Texas Tech University, where he contributed to its rise as a major research institution. He published 14 books and roughly 350 journal articles, served as an editor of The Journal of Mammalogy and the Texas Journal of Science, and also helped establish and support Texas Tech University Press.
