Dr. Teer was a leading wildlife biologist who served at the Texas Game and Fish Commission, taught at Texas A&M University (1970-88), acted as head of the TAMU Wildlife and Fisheries Science Deparment, and managed a field station at the Welder Wildlife Foundation (1980-98). He was particularly known for his research on white-tailed deer ecology and management, and wrote about his life and career in It’s a Long Way from Llano: The Journey of a Wildlife Biologist (2008). He volunteered as the first president of the Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society (1965), and late received the prestigious Aldo Leopold Memorial Award (1994).
