Harris Braley Parks worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, the Texas Agricultural Experiment, Station, and San Antonio’s Apicultural Laboratory. For many years, he served as the director and botanist of the Tracy Herbarium at Texas A&M University. He is also known for creating The Flora and Fauna of the Big Thicket Area (1936) and the Catalogue of the Flora of the State of Texas (1937), both with V.L. Cory. His studies with Cory on the Big Thicket helped form the rationale for protect of the area for its extraordinary biodiversity.
