Description

Through her role in the Earl C. Sams Foundation, Gladys Porter was instrumental in conceiving, planning, funding and stocking the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. Besides acting as an educational center for over 400,000 annual visitors, the zoo also sponsors off-site conservation work, particularly with the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle population at Rancho Nuevo in Mexico.
