Fred Butler Jones

Fred Jones, an amateur botanist, made major contributions to the study of the plants of the Texas Coastal Bend, acquiring and preparing many of the specimens in the Welder Wildlife Foundation herbarium, and writing the book, Flora of the Texas Coastal Bend (1975). Aside from his botanical studies, Jones was also involved in conservation efforts, helping found the Audubon Outdoor Club.
