Description

Eula Mae Whitehead, a botanist, taught botany at the College of Mines and Metallurgy (now the University of Texas at El Paso), and later served as a botany professor and as staff and head of the herbarium at Southern Methodist University (1946-1958). She was noted for her skill in depicting Texas flowers, as shown in her books, Texas Flowers in Natural Colors (1936) and Common Fall Flowers of the Coastal Bend of Texas (1962). She also was interested in birds, holding a membership in the Ornithological Society of Texas, and helping organize the Dallas County Audubon Society (1954).
