Description
Born in 1884 in Minnesota, Edith Moore had worked as a bacteriologist and pathologist during WWI before settling in Houston. She and her husband Jesse lived on a 17.5-acre tract in west Houston for over 40 years. On her death in 1975, Edith Moore donated the parcel to the Houston Audubon Society, which now uses the 1932-era log cabin as its headquarters and manages the land as the Edith L. Moore Sanctuary, protecting forest, wetlands, and native prairie.
