Description

Raised on a ranch outside of Sabinal, Edgar Kincaid was a trained botanist, self-taught ornithologist and ecologist, and the editor of The Bird Life of Texas (University of Texas Press, 1974), an authoritative volume first drafted by Henry Church Oberholser.

Kincaid was also remembered as a beloved birding companion, mentor, and friend to many young birders. At the same time, he was a clear-eyed student of threats to avifauna, and a sober prophet of the future decline of the birds that he studied.
