Description
Don Kennard served as state representative for Tarrant County (1953-1962) and as state senator for Texas District 10 (1963-1972). Kennard led efforts to pass use of revenues from the state cigarette tax to fund park acquisition, planning and development. He also coordinated the Natural Area Survey at the University of Texas – Austin’s LBJ School of Public Affairs. The Survey served as a key blueprint for public land protection for Texas sites of ecological, scenic or historic value.
