Description

Benny Simpson, a horticulturalist and research scientist in Texas, worked for the Texas Research Foundation, and later for the Texas A&M Agrilife Research and Extension Center in Dallas. He advocated for the landscaping use of native and drought-tolerant trees and shrubs in the state. He is also remembered as the author of “A Field Guide to Texas Trees” (1988), and as a co-founder and former president of the Native Plant Society of Texas.
