Description
J.E. “Pete” and Annie M. Smith gave 638 acres to the State of Texas in 1971, which were opened as McKinney Falls State Park in 1976. The park includes waterfalls on Onion and Williamson Creeks, and offers camping sites, picnic areas, and hiking trails. The property is named after Thomas McKinney, the first European settler there, who arrived in 1839, built a home and gristmill, and helped finance the Texas Revolution.
