Description
A professor at the University of Texas at Denton, Dr. Pete Gunter focused on environmental philosophy and worked for the protection of the Big Thicket. He served as president of the Big Thicket Association (1971-72), acted as chair of the Big Thicket Coordinating Committee (1973-80), and wrote The Big Thicket: A Challenge for Conservation (1971) and The Big Thicket: An Ecological Reevaluation (1993).

As a long-time, passionate proponent of the Big Thicket National Preserve, perhaps a marker could be placed at the Preserve; Sundew Trail; Village Mills, Texas 77663 (close to the Geraldine Watson preserve).
